AHAsolar Technologies has secured a

work order from NLC India Renewables

Limited (NIRL) to provide consultancy

services for a 250 MW/500 MWh

Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

project.

The tender for the project was issued in

January, with the work order being

awarded approximately six months lat-

er. According to a regulatory filing by

NLC India Limited (NLCIL), the order

covers consultancy services for NIRL’s

energy projects, including a 50 MW

solar project at Mine-II and a 25

MW/150 MWh BESS project at Neyve-

li.

The project is scheduled for completion

within 18 months, as per the tender

terms.

Under the scope of work, AHAsolar

Technologies will serve as the Project

Management Consultant (PMC), over-

seeing

the

project

from

planning

through completion. Its responsibilities

will include project planning and

management, scheduling and monitor-

ing, material inspection, support during

the Defect Liability Period, and the

transition to operations and mainte-

nance.

The company will also undertake

comprehensive project coordination and

execution monitoring, along with quali-

ty assurance and compliance oversight.

Its mandate includes ensuring adher-

ence to environmental, social and gov-

ernance (ESG) and safety requirements,

as well as managing project closeout on

behalf of the project owner.

AHASOLAR TECHNOLOGIES WINS CONSULTANCY

ORDER FOR 250 MW/500 MWH BESS PROJECT FROM NIRL

The state government-sponsored bids

for tenders of solar power projects in

Odisha are likely to see stiff competi-

tion, as top-notch private developers

and leading public sector undertakings

(PSUs) compete in the bidding process.

The state government is set to begin the

process of awarding tenders within a

fortnight. These are for projects that are

expected to generate 200 megawatts

(MW) of solar power.

The

auction

would

be

conducted

according to the latest guidelines on

solar power auctions issued by the

Ministry of New & Renewable Energy

(MNRE), said the state government.

“Reverse bidding mechanism would be

followed to select the developer. Odisha

could secure a levelised tariff of Rs.

3.50 per unit. This tariff would still be

competitive given Odisha's limitations

in the quantum of solar radiation

received and also the challenge in land

acquisition,” said Hemant Sharma,

secretary (energy), Odisha and chair-

man cum managing director at Gridco

Ltd, the state-owned power trading

firm.

Major players in solar power space like

ACME Solar, SB Energy (a joint

venture of SoftBank, Foxconn Technol-

ogies and Bharti Enterprises), Tata

Power, Essel Green Energy and Adani

Power have shown interest to partici-

pate in the bids.

Saatvik Solar Industries recently said

it has signed an initial agreement with

the Industrial Promotion and Invest-

ment

Corporation

of

Odisha

Ltd

(IPICOL) to set up a 3.6 GW solar cell

manufacturing facility at Gopalpur in

Odisha.

The proposed project is expected to

create employment opportunities and

contribute to the development of the

broader industrial ecosystem in the

region.

“Odisha is more than a manufacturing

milestone for Saatvik; it is a statement

of our ambition. As our 2.4 GW cell and

4 GW module manufacturing lines

move towards production, we are taking

a decisive step towards building scale,

strengthening integration and creating

the foundation for our next phase of

robust growth,” Prashant Mathur, CEO

of Saatvik Green Energy Ltd, said in a

statement.

The proposed facility will form part of

the company's efforts to expand its

manufacturing capacity and strengthen

its presence across the solar value

chain.

SAATVIK SOLAR PLANS 3.6 GW PHASE II SOLAR CELL

FACILITY IN ODISHA

NEWS

SJVN has achieved the Commercial

Operation Date (COD) of its 75 MW

Jamui Solar Power Project in Bihar’s

Jamui district, marking another mile-

stone in the company’s renewable ener-

gy expansion.

The project has been developed through

SJVN’s wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN

Green Energy Ltd (SGEL), at an esti-

mated cost of ₹1,342 crore. It is spread

across around 300 acres of land near

Hadhadiya and Kakanchaur villages in

Jamui district.

SJVN said the project is expected to

generate around 90 million units of

electricity in its first year of operation

and approximately 3,522 million units

over 25 years. The power generated will

be supplied to Bihar at a tariff of ₹2.96

per unit.

The company said the competitive tariff

will help provide affordable and clean

power to consumers in the state.

The project is also expected to support

local employment and economic activi-

ty. According to SJVN, it has created

around 15-20 direct employment oppor-

tunities

and

approximately

5,100

indirect employment opportunities.

The 75 MW project was developed

following a tender floated by the Bihar

Renewable Energy Development Agen-

cy (BREDA), Government of Bihar.

SJVN said the project is estimated to

reduce carbon emissions by around

82,250.74

tonnes,

contributing

to

India’s decarbonisation goals and its

target of achieving 500 GW of renew-

able energy capacity by 2030.

The commissioning of the Jamui project

further strengthens SGEL’s renewable

energy portfolio and supports SJVN’s

plans to expand its presence in the clean

energy sector across India.

Jakson Infra recently said it has

secured a ₹128.21-crore contract from

Resonia Ltd for the supply and con-

struction of a transmission line project

in Karnataka.

The project covers a route length of

approximately 90.07 km, the company

said in a statement.

Under the contract, Jakson Infra will

undertake the supply and construction

of the 400 kV Double Circuit (Quad)

Jagalur-Kadakola Transmission Line

Element 1B (Middle Section) in Karna-

taka.

The project is part of the state’s power

transmission

infrastructure

develop-

ment and will involve the construction

of the specified transmission line along

the awarded route.

JAKSON INFRA SECURES ₹128.21-CRORE POWER TRANSMISSION

PROJECT IN KARNATAKA

The Delhi Development Authority

(DDA) approved a change in land use

for a 10-acre plot in Ghazipur, paving

the way for a fresh-waste processing

facility with a capacity of at least 800

tonnes per day and an accompanying

biogas plant.

The land, secured by the Municipal

Corporation of Delhi (MCD) from the

DDA

near

the

Integrated

Freight

Complex (IFC) in Ghazipur, will be

used to process newly generated munic-

ipal waste as part of the civic body’s

plan to divert fresh waste from Delhi’s

three major landfill sites - Ghazipur,

Bhalswa and Okhla.

The decision was taken at a meeting

chaired by Lieutenant Governor and

DDA Chairman Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

The authority also approved the Master

Plan for Delhi-2047 (MPD-2047) at the

meeting.

Officials said the DDA approved chang-

ing the land-use category of the Ghazi-

pur plot from “Commercial (Freight

Complex)” to “Utility” to facilitate the

waste-to-energy project. The facility is

expected to help reduce the environ-

mental impact of waste disposal and

support efforts to create a cleaner and

greener Delhi.

Of the 10-acre parcel, five acres will be

used for the fresh-waste processing

facility, while the remaining five acres

will accommodate a biogas plant, ac-

cording to MCD officials.

The two facilities are expected to

reduce the volume of fresh municipal

waste reaching the Ghazipur landfill

and help accelerate efforts to clear

legacy waste from the site.

The Ghazipur project is part of a broad-

er MCD plan to establish five fresh-wa-

ste processing facilities across Delhi by

October-end, with a combined process-

ing capacity of up to 5,900 tonnes per

day.

30 GW.

Concerns over the availability and

pricing of solar cells have surfaced

among some solar module manufactur-

ers and vendors following the imple-

mentation

of

mandatory

domestic

sourcing norms from June 1.

Industry

representatives

have

held

discussions with officials from the Min-

istry of New and Renewable Energy

(MNRE) both before and after the

rollout of the second phase of the

Approved List of Models & Manufac-

turers (ALMM-II), seeking relief on

supply-related issues.

The concerns stem from what some

non-integrated module manufacturers

and ancillary equipment suppliers de-

scribe as a significant gap between

India's module manufacturing capacity

and domestic solar cell production.

While the country has an estimated

module

manufacturing

capacity

of

about 225 GW, including roughly 193

GW listed under ALMM-I, domestic

solar cell capacity currently stands at

around 30 GW.

The Rajasthan Solar Association told

ET that not all of the existing cell manu-

facturing capacity comprises high-effi-

ciency cells, which account for the bulk

of demand in the market.

SOLAR MODULE MAKERS FLAG CELL SUPPLY GAP, RISING

COSTS AFTER LOCAL SOURCING NORMS KICK IN

The United States Patent and Trade-

mark Office (USPTO) have rejected a

petition filed by an Adani Group firm

seeking a review of US-based First

Solar’s patent covering TOPCon solar

cell technology.

The petition was filed by Mundra Solar,

an Adani Group unit, as part of an inter

partes review (IPR) process to invali-

date First Solar’s TOPCon patents. The

USPTO also denied similar review

requests filed separately by JinkoSolar

and Canadian Solar.

The IPRs were filed in 2025 and

declined, respectively, as per the orders

issued by the US patent authority. In its

ruling, the USPTO said the petitioners

had failed to meet the threshold

required to initiate a review. “Pursuant

to 35 U.S.C. § 314(a), after review of

the merits, the petitioner has failed to

show a reasonable likelihood of prevail-

ing with respect to at least one of the

claims challenged in the petition.

Accordingly, institution of inter partes

review is denied,” the order said.

At the World Economic Forum in

Davos, Switzerland, India’s minister for

new and renewable energy Pralhad

Joshi pitched the country as a competi-

tive manufacturing and export base for

renewable energy equipment and green

fuels, as New Delhi looks to tap West

Asian markets for solar modules, green

hydrogen and their derivatives amid a

slowdown in shipments to the US.

The export push was discussed during

Joshi’s meeting with Said Mohammed

Ahmed Al Saqri, economic advisor at

Oman’s Office of the Deputy Prime

Minister for Economic Affairs.

India and Oman share long-standing

trade and investment ties, with bilateral

trade touching about $10.6 billion in

FY25, according to government data.

India has been stepping up efforts to

diversify export destinations for solar

modules after shipments to the US were

hit by higher tariffs, even as demand

there softened following policy uncer-

tainty and a scale-back of renewable

energy support under President Donald

Trump. Against this backdrop, Oman is

being positioned as a strategic gateway

market for clean energy exports into

West Asia.

India and Oman signed the Comprehen-

sive Economic Partnership Agreement

(CEPA), in Muscat, offering Indian

exporters tariff-free access on a large

majority of Omani tariff lines and

enhanced market access for goods and

services. Under the pact, Oman has

provided zero-duty access on about

98% of its tariff lines, covering nearly

all Indian exports by value, while India

will liberalise tariffs on a majority of its

imports from Oman. Officials said New

Delhi sees the agreement as a key

enabler for export-oriented manufactur-

ing of solar modules, electrolysers and

green hydrogen derivatives.

The reduction of goods and services

taxes (GST) on renewable energy devic-

es and components from 12% to 5% will

give a leg up to India’s goal of having

500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based

electricity generation capacity by 2030.

But, any reduction in input costs could

only deepen the issue of inverted

taxation, industry stakeholders said.

Inverted taxation (inverted duty struc-

ture) occurs when the tax rate on inputs

used to produce goods or services is

greater than the tax rate on the finished

output. This discrepancy can result in

the accumulation of excess input tax

journey, and what milestones define

your success so far?

Our growth has never been driven by

the ambition to execute the highest

number of projects it has been driven

by the commitment to execute every

project the right way. In the solar

industry, trust is earned long after

commissioning. It is built through

sound engineering, transparent execu-

tion, and the confidence that when a

customer needs support, someone will

answer the call.

Since 2016, we have consistently

focused on quality over volume. Alon-

gside executing residential, commer-

cial, industrial, and government proj-

ects, we have deliberately taken on

technically challenging assignments

that strengthen our capabilities. A defi-

ining milestone was the successful

execution of a 1 MW solar project

along the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi

pilgrimage track, where our design was

approved by IIT Jammu.

Every complex project pushes us to

raise our engineering standards, and

that mindset has been the foundation of

our growth.

solar projects through our offices in

Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Delhi,

Over the next three to five years, our

focus is on building depth rather than

simply expanding scale. We want Or-

kan Energy to be recognized not just as

a solar EPC company, but as a trusted

energy solutions partner.

Strategically, we see three key priori-

ties. First, strengthening our presence

in the commercial and industrial seg-

ment, where businesses are increasing-

ly looking for integrated energy solu-

tions that improve both sustainability

and operational efficiency. Second, ex-

panding our capabilities in emerging

technologies such as Battery Energy

Storage Systems (BESS), hybrid ener-

gy solutions, and intelligent energy

management, which will play a crucial

role in the next phase of India's energy

digital twins, AI-driven predictive

maintenance, and AI/ML-based fault

detection using site photographs and
